    230 Series Spherical Roller Bearings

    230 Series Spherical Roller Bearings are large‑bore narrow‑section double‑row spherical roller bearings featuring compact radial dimension for large shaft diameters. Spherical outer‑ring raceway and double‑row barrel‑shaped rollers realize 1.0‑1.5° self‑alignment to compensate shaft deflection and frame‑caused misalignment. It delivers medium radial load capacity and bidirectional axial load capacity with average shock resistance, and relatively better speed performance among large‑bore spherical roller bearings.

Product Introduction

Spherical Roller Bearings 230 series are large‑bore narrow‑section double‑row spherical Roller Bearings featuring compact radial dimension for large shaft diameters. Spherical outer‑ring raceway and double‑row barrel‑shaped rollers realize 1.0‑1.5° self‑alignment to compensate shaft deflection and frame‑caused misalignment. It delivers medium radial load capacity and bidirectional axial load capacity with average shock resistance, and relatively better speed performance among large‑bore Spherical Roller Bearings

Straight‑bore and 1:12 tapered‑bore K versions are available; most large sizes are equipped with W33 grease groove and holes. Precision grades P0 and P6. Applied for heavy‑duty machinery with large shaft diameter, limited housing radial space, medium load and moderate speed requirement.

Brief comparison: 230 narrow‑section with smallest outer diameter and relatively good speed; 231 medium‑width; 232 wide‑width; 239 ultra‑narrow with lower load capacity. Suitable for large‑shaft‑diameter applications where radial housing dimension cannot be enlarged under medium‑load conditions.

Specifications

Bore range:100‑670mm(model range 23020‑230/670). Compared with 231 of identical bore, outer diameter is smaller, load capacity decreases by 18‑28%, limiting speed increases by 10‑18%.

230 Series

Reference Model:23040CA/W33

‑ Bore d:200mm

‑ Outer diameter D:310mm

‑ Width B:82mm

‑ Basic dynamic load Cr:570kN

‑ Basic static load Cor:735kN

‑ Limiting speed(grease):1400r/min

Withdrawal sleeves are preferred for large‑bore tapered‑bore variants. Closely monitor clearance reduction in assembly.

Material, Model & Suffix Explanation

Inner / outer rings and rolling elements: high‑purity vacuum‑degassed GCr15 bearing steel; electroslag remelted steel for extra‑large sizes. Quenched‑tempered hardness HRC 58‑62.

Cage:

‑ CA solid brass cage: standard for large sizes;

‑ CC stamped‑steel cage rarely used for large bore;

‑ E/E1 optimized roller profile for improved load rating.

Suffixes

‑ K:1:12 tapered bore;

‑ W33: outer‑ring grease groove & lubrication holes;

‑ C2/C3/C4 radial clearance; C3 for general, C4 for shock‑vibration.

Typical model: 23040CAK/W33C3:230 series, solid brass cage, tapered bore, W33 grease groove, C3 clearance.

Manufacturing Process

1. Ultrasonic raw‑material inspection to control internal defects of large forgings;

2. Hot die forging for continuous metal flow‑lines on raceway;

3. Controlled quenching‑tempering to restrain ovality and warpage of large rings;

4. Turning with strict geometric‑tolerance control;

5. Superfinishing for raceways and rollers to optimize contact profile;

6. High‑precision clearance grouping‑matching and thorough W33‑groove deburring;

7. Finished‑product non‑destructive inspection, dimension‑clearance‑vibration test, multi‑point‑support cleaning and anti‑rust packaging.

Application Scenarios

Heavy‑duty equipment with large shaft diameter, limited housing radial space, medium load and moderate‑speed requirement.

‑ Metallurgy: auxiliary rollers, rotary furnace supports

‑ Building‑material: medium‑small rotary kilns, dryers

‑ Paper‑making: medium‑small dryer cylinder supports

‑ General heavy machinery: large rotary drums, low‑speed reducers

 W33 for maintainable units; upgrade to 231 when load capacity is insufficient; select C4 clearance under shock‑vibration.

Installation Guidelines

1. Max thermal‑mount heating ≤110 ℃. Ensure uniform heating for large rings. Open‑flame heating forbidden. Strike only bearing end faces.

2. When mounting large‑bore tapered‑bore bearings with withdrawal sleeves, tighten progressively in multiple passes and re‑measure clearance each pass.

3. Select proper interference; avoid excessive assembly stress for large‑size bearings.

4. Precisely align W33 grease groove with housing lubrication passages.

5. Manually rotate shaft after assembly; perform no‑load running‑in and confirm normal temperature rise before full‑load service.

After‑sales Maintenance

1. Lubrication: extreme‑pressure lithium grease, fill cavity 1/3‑2/3. Periodically re‑grease to expel aged grease; over‑filling is prohibited.

2. Inspection: temperature rise ≤+40 ℃ above ambient. Shut‑down immediately upon abnormal noise or temperature surge.

3. Storage: large‑size bearings shall be stored horizontally with multi‑point support. Vertical placement is strictly forbidden. Keep moisture‑proof and rust‑proof.

4. Failure diagnosis: raceway spalling from overload; rib wear caused by excessive axial load; abrasive wear from seal failure; cage damage due to improper mounting.

Selection Notes

230 features large‑bore plus narrow‑section for radial‑space saving. Upgrade to 231 / 232 for higher load. Add thrust bearings for large axial load. Apply reliable sealing under harsh working conditions.
